Established in 1960, Korellis is a self-performing building envelope contractor specializing in roofing, sheet metal, wall panels, and masonry.
But being in business for over 60 years is only a small part of our overall experience. Korellis has installed millions of square feet of roofing and sheet metal systems. Under difficult conditions, often on projects with structural deck replacements, severe slopes, and poor logistics, work has been completed cost effectively and safely, while at the same time achieving some of the highest honors in our various industries.
We are recognized as the premier roofing contractor in Northwest Indiana, and one the biggest in Chicagoland. We have worked at some of the largest steel mills and industrial locations in North America, as well as hundreds of churches, schools, government and office buildings, nuclear power plants and multi-million dollar casinos. We’ve completed projects with a wide variety of shapes, sizes and slopes and established safe environmental procedures during the removal and disposal of asbestos-containing roofing materials (ACRM).
Korellis’ real advantage comes from our team. Our office staff of employee-owners has a vested interest in the success of the business which means everyone from our Administrators to our Estimators to our Project Managers want to deliver the highest standards of customer service. Our field team members are highly-trained, union tradespeople getting paid great wages and benefits under their respective collective bargaining agreements. This investment in our employees amounts to an entire team with a stake in Korellis’ success – both short and long term.
The Korellis Vision
For over 60 years, Korellis has been an employee-centric roofing contractor delivering an unparalleled experience through team-inspired innovation and dedication to an ever-growing network of partners.
Korellis’ vision is to be a world-class employer and self-performing building envelope contractor in every community we touch.
History
In 1960, George Korellis began a roofing business out of his home. In the mid-80s, his son Pete Korellis joined the business full-time with the goal to shift the entirely residential customer base into commercial and industrial clients.
The first large client was the Ford Chicago Assembly Plant, and from there, Pete Korellis and lifelong friend and business partner Jeff Tharp would continue to grow the business. From an expanded customer base to team of employees, they would keep growing into the 2000s.
Though the headquarters has relocated several times, it has always remained in its founding city of Hammond, Indiana. Today, the company is 100% employee owned and aims to self-perform all facets of the exterior building envelope.
Korellis continues to maintain the company’s original core principles of honesty, integrity and customer satisfaction. By combining industry-leading talent, cutting-edge technology and award winning results, Korellis has earned a reputation of sophistication and professionalism in the industry.
Awards
Korellis is dedicated to being your source for quality workmanship utilizing proven materials. Elevate (formerly Firestone) Building Products has honored Korellis with its 2021 Master Contractor Silver and Inner Circle of Quality Awards for Korellis’ commitment to commercial roofing excellence and superior installations. These awards are the commercial roofing industry’s most highly respected accomplishments.
This is the 30th year Korellis has achieved Master Contractor status and the 29th year for the Inner Circle of Quality Award. The Master Contractor designation is bestowed upon roofing professionals for consistent installation excellence and quality craftsmanship based on total square footage and inspection ratings. This award is presented only to those who have maintained at least two million square feet of Elevate roofs under warranty and achieved an annual Quality Incidence Rating of 1.0 or less. The QIR measures quality performance based on warranty repair incidences per million square feet under warranty.

“Seeing our company employees doing well in life, buying homes, sending kids to college, retiring – just being able to watch our people grow and develop is extremely gratifying. There is nothing more honorable that a business can do than to employ people – pay them good wages and give them good benefits so they can provide a good living for their families”
– Pete Korellis, Chairman of the Board
